Aviators News · Lacrosse Meeting Update and Survey

Parents,

A quick recap of the Lacrosse interest meeting from May 30th.
– Alpine School District will be joining the UHSAA in sponsoring Lacrosse at high schools where there is enough interest.

– If a school doesn’t have enough interest to create a team (boys or girls), an interested student athlete can co-op (join with another school).

– Current UHSAA rules state that “when a given sport is not available at the member high school where a student attends and thereby has established eligibility, the student may become eligible for that specific sport at another member high school. In order to activate that eligibility, the student must secure written approval of both principals.

The student athlete can play Lacrosse at a different school in the district, provided the student transfers to the desired school and gains full-time status at the new school. After the conclusion of that sport season, the student may not remain at the new school without loss of eligibility in sports that are offered at the original school for up to one year, as stipulated in the UHSAA By-Laws. Upon re-enrolling at the original school of eligibility, the student is immediately eligible for other sports offered at the home school.

A take away from the meeting was to send out a follow up survey for interest in Lacrosse.  Here is the link to the survey.  Please feel free to share this on social media or with others who may be interested.
Thank you
